In Sept. 2003 My TSH was 3.9 (.5-5.0), FT4 14 (10-20), FT3 4.0 (2.6-5.7).
My starting dose at that time was .25 synthroid. I am now upto .125 and my results are TSH 0.7, FT4 14, FT3 4.0, (same ranges).
Liz, you could be one of the many for whom synthroid doesn't work well. It will relieve some symptoms but it doesn't take care of all of them. It looks like your body is having a hard time converting the T4 into the active T3. You might benefit from the natural thyroid (Armour in the US, Thyroid in Canada) as this contains T3; or perhaps some cytomel (synthetic T3). People taking T3 usually notice improvement in symptoms that Synthroid didn't take care of - and they notice improvements very shortly afterward.

Liz, you might want to do a little reading on this forum for info on Armour (natural thyroid with both T4 and T3) and cytomel (synthetic T3); there is a lot of misleading information thanks to doctors who don't know much about this and big drug companies who've been pushing synthetic T4 for years. Check out the Information Archive or try searching this forum for "Armour" and "depression"
