long time waiting

I have been slowly reaching hyperthyroidism for the past 2 years. I started developing symptoms in July of 2002 while my tsh and other numbers were fine. Just recently it has started to excel quickly. In April my TSH was .52, July .34 and now .01. In 2 weeks my T3 went from 2.65 to 4.34 with 3.1 being the high. I have been prescribed Tapazoil (?) daily which I have not yet started. Does anyone have experience with this drug?

I found it very frustrating to go through those 2 years feeling like crap and doubted I was being followed for the right problem but now I realize the doctor actually did know what he was talking about.

I also have nodules which he says are related. Everyone on this board was very supportive through this tough time. Thanks to everyone!!! Finally!!! I'm getting treated and hopefully will find some relief.

Re: long time waiting

I was diagnosed with Graves disease in 2002. They started me out on Tapazole. Changed doctors and he put me on PTU because he said pregnant women can even take PTU. I was definitely not pregnant. He was trying to say that it is milder than tapazole.

Took the tapazole for about two months. I had no problems with it. Usually with the tapazole, you don't have to take so many pills as with PTU.

I noticed with the PTU I had a little hand and feet swelling.

My MD never told me that after my thyroid levels normalize that I had to reduce the dose. I think I had hypothyroidism for quite a long time. My sideeffects I thought were symptoms of menopause.

When I found these boards, I learned much about the medicine. I believe you could talk to K9mom because she took tapazole I believe. All you have to do is ask for K9mom and you need some info on tapazole. She will definitely answer you.

Good luck and take care
