Dear Stessy, I just read your post to my successful surgery post. I just looked up my first post & promptly forgot its title! But I just discovered this board (this site in fact) and first used it on I think 11/12 or 11/13. But you can do the same thing I did--at the top in the blue menu is a button titled "search" with a down arrow. Click on this & you can put in user name "superstring" & either look for threads I started or ones I responded to. There are only a few of them so you can easily pick out the first one. I think it is "upcoming thyroidectomy" but may not have all details. For your info real fast, I had a nodule on the left side which a dr. felt by chance during an exam. I had normal TSH etc. & no symptoms. THyroid scan (which probably was unnecessary) showed a hot nodule (functioning nodule). Fine needle aspiration biopsy showed follicular lesion, some atypical cells, suggestion of Hurthle cell change. Saw 4 endocrinologists, 2 thyroid specialists, one general surgeon, one thyroid surgeon. Biopsy results were abnormal which increased the chance of cancer, so chose thyroidectomy to be sure. Will happily answer any other questions! Good luck to you.
