I am hypo, levels improving still a ways to go. I use dye free soaps
and softeners.Read labels now and some days I still itch. My question is
when my levels get to normal. does anyone think the itching will subside?
Also does white sugar cause some of this in hypo people. Trying to figure this out is hard. Appreciate any comments. suem
Suem, I get this too. It started when I first went on thyroid meds for hypo and flares up every now and again. It seems like I become allergic to everything I normally use.
The best thing I find is to stop putting anything on my skin at all apart from plain almond oil and plain white soap. I'm also checking out some toiletries without any chemicals.
If I had Hashis I could understand this but i haven't!
Hi lm stable (?) hyper thyroid and l itched and itched for 9 month solid before been dxn!!! l still do from time to time and have my shins esp raw!! I smoother my legs in antiseptic cream daft doc give me bath oil and antibiotics and antihistimines when l first seen him. (b4 dxn).........should of been a blood test l had!! My whole body was raw!! Nice cool shower helps but not for long l think its all about levels no cream under the sun helped me stop itching! good luck!
Yes I get itchy skin if I am on just Thyroxine (T4) (we call it thryoxine here in england but the synthetic form of T4 - in the USA I think you call it something else), anyway I did not really have itchy skin until I went on medication for under-active Thyroid. I am now on a combination of (synthetic) T4 and T3 and my skin doesn't itch all the time, but from time to time it does. It is also much more sensitive to the sun - mind you not a huge problem in England !! Particularly at the moment - in the middle of December!!
