Anyone have headaches that are mostly when you wake up? I have been through 3 mattresses, 4 pillows and changed bedrooms (thought it might be too stuffy) This is all in last 6 weeks! They come with dizziness and go away after sitting up about 10 minutes or so. Then they come back later in the day (every day) but this time my glands swell up and neck gets stiff. Sometimes I have nausea and sometimes not. The pain in morning is the top of my head and behind right eye. The pain the rest of the time is more generalized but stays on the right side of my head and all of my neck. My vision gets blurry too and a few times I have lost my side vision completely. After the headache my memory is lost for a while but always comes back. Sorry about a headache question on this forum but just wondered if anyone else has these. I have been hypo (slightly) TSH is all the have tested but it is around 7.11 now. History of thyroid cancer 15 years ago. Total thyroidectomy and radium 151 or what ever it's called.
I have had a mild version of what you describe when I am adjusting to a new dosage or when I am slightly overmedicated. I take Armour. I get a mild headache and eye pain. My memory gets worse, but I have not connected having a headache and then loosing memory. When my levels are balanced, my memory gets better.
Benzi, do you have your latest labs? I know when my FT4 gets low I have constant headaches and I feel pretty much like you described. What dose of meds are you on now and how long have you been on them?

Wow, I was just saying to my partner how bad I have been feeling, headache every day for the past 11 days. My eyes are bothering me, aching and scratchy. I was wondering if it is because I am starting to have Graves eye problems, but I have also had my medication increased 19 days ago. I go for blood work tomorrow, and then to the Dr. next Tuesday, I hope to have some answers or the headaches gone. It is miserable. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.
Went to a world reknown endo today he teaches endocrinology, he says maybe its the hypo causing headaches, in other words it can cause headaches but all serious causes of these type of headaches should be checked, he is ordering a full body scan for me since I have only had one after my cancer and that was 15 yrs ago. He is going to do the body scan and blood tests including Tg and T4, TSH and antibodies if all of these check out ok then he will start to figure out what else could be causing headaches. He will then consult a neurologist for another opinion. This guy is a walking degree he has about 7 of them and is on board of directors at several LARGE hospitals and has been chief endo at a Teaching Medical Center and on board of directors of American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. I am very impressed so far.
Gopherhead I forgot to answer your question about labs. The only lab I have had done is TSH and it was 3 weeks ago and was 7.11. Never had Tg, T3, T4 ect.... except maybe right after my surgery in 1991. The reason is that I was just going to GP's and I guess they saw no need to do any other labs. Its strange because I have never had a TSH come out normal mostly too high but once or twice too low. I have myself to blame for this as I have moved a lot and changed Dr's quite often and did not go to endo but the one time almost 4 years ago who scared me with the whole body scan thing. I am turning over a new leaf and taking charge of my healthcare starting with record keeping and this new endo. Thanks for writing and listening.
I had VERY ugly migranes when my meds were too low. I added more T4 and the headaches did eventually improve. Now, that I've added the 7 milligrams of Armour...I'm totally migrane free.
You can try adding Magnesium and Riboiflavin. That's what my nuerologist suggested.
