I'm done with doctors

I am tired of having so many problems with endo's not listening to me and on the advice given here, I tried to find an ostepath. There is not one here locally.
I have not taken my synthroid for 3 days and I feel much better. My head is clear, no "episodes" but yet when I called a new doctor she said she probably wouldn't take me off the synthroid.
Well, I am certainly no genius, but it seems to me that if I am not taking it and feel better, then something is not working with that drug....
Anyway, I am washing my hands of them all...going natural.
Went to a natural market, and picked up some natural forms of thyroid and suplements to take along with it. (raw gland concentrate, thyroid health formual, and Ashwaganda) I hope I can list those.
Anyway, I can't wait to see how this route goes.
If anyone has tried this or has any input, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Re: I'm done with doctors

You need to be scientific about it. If you feel awful on synthroid but your numbers test out well, your probably not converting the t4 properly. It's a simple matter to fix and it'll make all the difference in the world in how you feel.

I don't know what all that natural stuff is you're taking but it's not as if you can just pop some natural stuff from the healthstore in your mouth and it'll be perfect. You may feel good for a day or so but it won't last unless you've hit on the right balance. You need to know how much t4 and t3 the stuff has and you need to monitor it over days and weeks. You need to figure out how much t4 and t3 you thrive on. And I'd suggest doing it with armour just because it already has the t1 and t2 and reverse ts so you can pretty much eliminate those potential issues.

Find that balance of t3 and t4 and you should start to feel pretty good as far as your thryoid is concerned. The literature says humans naturally produce 20% t3 and 80% t4 so that may be a good combination starting point for you.

Re: I'm done with doctors

Well the problem is, 3 doctors WILL NOT take me off Synthroid and give me Armour. There are no osteopaths in my area that I can find. I feel that I am at my wits end and since I can't get Armour, this is where I am....trying it myself

This is not the option I'd prefer, but what choice do I have?

Re: I'm done with doctors

you can buy it on internet pharmacies-- no prescription. It costs a couple bucks more- but when you consider you didn't pay for the doctor's visit it's probably cheaper.

Re: I'm done with doctors

I do not know that.......I will try Armour first
Do you have a suggestion or know how I can figure out what amount to start taking?
Also, how can I be sure of the product I am getting?

Re: I'm done with doctors

1 grain of armour has 38mcg of t4 and 9mcg of t3 plus some piggy parts.

You multiple the t3 by 4-5 to figure out an equivelent of t4. So the 9mcg of t3 in armour is worth about 36-45 mcg of t4 for a total of equivelent of about 75-90mcg of synthetic t4.

It's all rough math. The t3 has different effects on different people.

Re: I'm done with doctors

After discussing this with my hubby, he suggests I ask my endo why she will not prescribe this for me and look around until I find someone who will. He feels having a docotr prescribe a medication is the best thing for me.
I guess I need to grow a backbone and demand (professionally of course) that I be able to at least give it a trial

Re: I'm done with doctors

Good luck. Don't give up until you feel normal again. It is achievable.
