Thumbs down Thyroid and high blood pressure

I just wanted to add to my last message. In addition to the thyroid testing, I also had my blood pressure checked by my doctor last week. It is 140/100. For my whole life, my blood pressure has been normal and now that I am having problems with my thyroid, it is not. My choleterol is 260 and the triglicerides are off the charts at 400. So please add this stuff to my list of woes. Oh to be young and healthy again - and I took it for granted. Now I would be happy with 1 day of feeling good.

Re: Thyroid and high blood pressure

My BP had been lowish for my entire life, too.... Until the few years before I was finally diagnosed. It got to be very "spiky"... Normal at home, very high at the doctor's office - and presumably, at other times of stress. Now that I'm in treatment, and my levels are good, I don't have those spikes anymore. It's nice and even all the time.

My cholesterol was 239 total, with high LDL that wouldn't budge no matter what I did. I'm sure it was from the hypoT, but I haven't had another test since hypo treatment. My doc is sure it will have come down, and he isn't too concerned. Maybe I'll have a test run in the coming year to make sure.

High trigs can also be another hypo symptom. Mine never were unacceptably high, but I was able to lower them by sharply reducing my sugar and white flour intake, and by gently exercising a little more. You may want to try that.
