I started going to my gp in aug with every hyper symptom on the list,after blood tests he told me everything was normal, but when I looked at them t4 total and t3 total were both slightly elevated.The next visit I was told it's anxiety heres your paxil,tried that did nothing.I went back in Oct and was told now I have a nodule and oh by the way your tests were a little high"duh" he took more blood and refered me to an endo,He never called just sent my test results with a note saying "Perfectly functioning thyroid"UGH.All my symptoms seem to point to graves I'm even having eye problems.Anyway the antibodies that were tested were Thyroglobulin and Thyroid Peroxidase(both results read less than 2.0) are these the antibodies to test for graves or are there others I should ask the endo to test for.Any other info for the endo appt would be greatly appreciated.

Great question!

The definative test for Graves is to test for TSI (Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulins). These are the antibodies that cause Graves disease by overstimulating the thyroid gland.

TPO antibodies are responsible for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, but some folks with Graves will test positive for them in much lower titres than is found in Hashi's.

Thanks, I will ask for a TSI hopefully he will do it. I also see I need to get free t3 and t4 since I've found the labs my gp ran are pretty much outdated.I hope the endo will do these since my second set of labs especialy tsh were in range.Also can anyone tell me if it's normal for TSH to fluctuate on it's own in aug mine was 1.09 and in oct was 1.94 range (.40-5.20).I'm getting so frustrated with my doc not telling me anything or the wrong thing,you guys on this board are great!!
