How often should I be tested if thyroid disease runs in my family?

My levels have always tested normal, but I do have a lot of hypothyroid symptoms. My mom was hyperthyroid and my grandmother was hypothyroid. Thanks!

Re: How often should I be tested if thyroid disease runs in my family?

There are no normal levels, where in the range your number falls makes a lot of difference, the range is only a gauge and just being "in range" does not mean your thyroid is functioning normally.

If you are having symptoms go get more testing, you need to have your FREE T3, FREE T4 and TSH tested as well as be tested for thyroid antibodies. The FREE tests should be in the upper 1/3 of the labs range and the TSH should be below 2

Please keep us posted.
