Yesterday, after being refferred to a "specialist" in the headaches I've been getting I was thrown out of the doctors office for "making my symptoms up" I have been treated horribly over this last year with still no confirmed thyroid diagnosis (even though I know I have hypoT). But I was never treated so horribly as I was yesterday. How can they think I am making these symptoms up? I have been through hell this past year. My symptoms are:
Lump in throat
Post nasal drip
headaches (really bad ones)
dizzy spells (like vertigo)
derealization (I only found out what this symptom was through this board)
with all of these symptoms how can I be making it up? The docs don't even care anymore. The doc yesterday didn't even examine me he told me he couldn't help me and threw me out. I am at the end of my rope here. how long can I live like this without treatment? Just needed to vent. Thanks for listening.
Well, if those docs are the type to throw people out of their office and accuse you of making all that up ( I HATE THOSE DOCTORS, had a jerk like that myself), they did you a favor. You don't need to be in a place like that. Now you can find someone who will listen to you and not assume that you're pretending just because he can't figure it out.

I understand your frustration though. I'm going to brave seeing my doc tomorrow almost certain of the fact that she'll refuse to do anything, despite my TSH rising in the past few months and numerous hypoT symptoms. I can't believe they kicked you out though! That's appalling! Doctors make me so mad.
Barb's right though - you can find yourself someone who will listen. Don't stop trying to get treated. I know how tough it can be.
April raises a good point. You can bet there's something in his records saying whatever it was he told you.
Please don't let this incident get you down. There are idiots in every walk of life. Your doctor is living proof.
Find another doctor. Tell him/her all of your symptoms. But stay away from telling any doctor anything about your personal life. My old doctor (I'd like to call him something else but I must use restraint) excused my symptoms as stress related because he asked me how I was doing. I told him I had just sold my house that day and was temporarily seperating from my husband. That went on my permanent record. No mention that I was having severe mood swings and depression and my husband couldn't stand living with me like that. Well, now I know why I had the severe mood swings and depression. I was hypo. It wasn't all in my head as was suggested to me by my idiot doctor who, btw, wan't the doc who ordered the blood tests.
I tell you my story to let you know that I've gone through a somewhat similar situation with doctors.
Take care and please post back to us and let us know how you are.
Well, you can always hlp yourself and get a thryoid panel through Healthcheck USA for 75 bucks or so...to confirm your suspicions. Sorry about the bad mean doc....they learned how to be clueless in school.
Get creative and bypass the life's pot-holes and gutters my friend.
