| Re: Stupid nodule question?
To be honest with you, I have no idea. Hopefully somebody else will be able to tell you. I can tell you this though. Often times doctors will only test for TSH and if it shows up within the "normal" ranges, they often do not diagnose hyper or hypo thyroidism. A lot of people around here suggest you have your Free T3 & Free T4 tested as well. I feel just as strongly that if you have a goiter you should definately be tested for thyroid antibodies. Sometimes antibodies can be present and the TSH be normal also.
I had Graves disease/hyperthyroidism and had a large hot nodule that was killed with radioiodine. That's the extent of my nodule experience. I do know my grandmother had a cold, cancerous thyroid nodule that was surgically removed, but I do not think she was ever tested for antibodies.
