I've recently be diagnosed with HypoT. I'm 33 and at the point in my life where I am finally thinking I may want a baby. Does have hypoT complicate things, make it impossible, or no big deal?
Re: Pregnancy and Hypothroidism...Is it possible??
sometimes they just need to adjust your dose.
i wasn't getting pregnant for about 6 months and 30 days after the dr. upped my levoxyl just a tiny bit i was pregnant the next month.
Re: Pregnancy and Hypothroidism...Is it possible??
Actually it took my pregnancy (and subsequent miscarriage) to possibly cause my hypothyroid state. My endocrinologist is not worried, and like the other poster, said now that I am being treated, it could be easier for me to get and/or stay pregnant. Byt b/c pregnancy messes with your hormones, it's probably a smart idea to get checked by your doctor now and as soon as you find that you are pregnant as doses of medication usually have to be adjusted/increased. And if your levels are off, it could have adverse affects for your unborn child. And by the way, prescription drugs to treat hypothyroidism are safe to take during pregnancy.
Re: Pregnancy and Hypothroidism...Is it possible??
Thanks for the input. I have an appt next month with my Gyno. (Haven't been there in 4 years. OOPS!) I was going to talk to her about that too. My age is also a strike against me. I have heard about people having miscarriages with HyopT. Is that just a conicidence or is there some relavance to that?

Just be careful and be sure they watch your FREE thyroid levels especially the FREE T4, it NEEDS to be in the upper 1/3 of the labs range before conceiving and its important for you and the development of the baby that it stay in the upper 1/3 during the pregnancy.
