I've been thinking about the past few months before i was diagnosed hypoT and have noticed that i started having symptoms for awhile now. I was tired all this summer but just told myself it was because i was working with 3 and 4 yr olds at a day camp. I was working there for a couple of weeks and all the counselors decided to get together for dinner one night. Well i hadn't been wearing makeup for weeks because it was hot and i was running around, but i went to put mascara on and realized i had lost all the eyelashes in my left eye. For no reason, never singed them or anything. My mother said last week that she read that losing eye lashes was a sign of hypoT, has anyone heard of that?!
Anyway I was wondering if anyone had really strange symptoms? On another note i've been on synthroid for almost 2 weeks now and the only symptom decrease i have had is that i am no longer constipated (kind of embarrasing to say). But i didn't know how wonderful it could be!
Hair loss of all kinds (head, legs, eye areas) is related to hypo-T. If you loose the outer 1/3 of your eyebrows its a sign you are not getting enough T3.
I had Graves and lost most of my lower lashes, which was actually what was the final symptom to send me to the dr. as well.
Glad you're feeling better.
I had severe eyelash and eyebrow loss (but, oddly not much head-hair loss) for years, before finally getting treated. I 'm currently on 90 mg. Armour and my eyelashes are about 80% better , but I don't think my eyebrows will ever re-grow properly. (Any new growth there, has been in a place where I don't want it!!) Luckily, I have bangs, so that sort of minimizes the problem somewhat!!
