My curly hair is going straight!

My tsh levels were out of range (like around 12) so they increased my synthroid from 50mcg to 75mcg. That was a couple of months ago. Now my hair is really loosing curl! Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: My curly hair is going straight!

No. My straight hair got curlier

When I was going through the adjustments w/ my meds and trying to get everything ironed out, I had a lot of hair problems: hair loss, lack of shine & luster, dry, etc. I don't think you have any kind of permanant hair changes, but once all of your hormones are at a good place, the hair you are used to should resurface !

Re: My curly hair is going straight!

Hair texture changes are common, mine was stick straight and now it tends to be more frizzy and has a bit of a curl. I'm really unsure if this actually does resolve on meds or not, I've been on meds for more than 3 years, getting close to 4 and mine is still not what it used to be.

Re: My curly hair is going straight!

My hair got a lot curlier. I have been regulated on my meds a little under two years. It especially got curlier on the bottom layers. It was wavy before but now it is corkscrew in some places. It has really caused a problem because it is not all the same texture.
I feel it is related to the thyroid issues.

Just a guess...

I should think the lack of thryoid causes hair loss, luster and twisted roots...so when it regrows its more curly, but at least it regrows.

Re: My curly hair is going straight!

My friends hair went straight when she fell pregnant! Both times. Second time round the hairdresser commented on it before my friend had her pregnancy confirmed!!
