Re: I have always blamed..

I suspect you'll have a lot of people saying pretty much the same thing. YES! Although I can't say that I exercise a whole lot. Nor can I say I always eat right. But I have pretty much maintained my weight (up and down a few pounds) since I was regulated on meds. Now that I'm not on meds (long story), I'm gaining the weight back pretty fast. Hopefully, I'll be back on the right track soon.

Re: I have always blamed..

Yes...it is more than likely your thyroid to blame. Since your thyroid controls your metabolism, if you metabolism is not properly functioning you will have wieght gain with hypothyroid. There are a few things you can do to overcome the wieght gain. Being on the correct dosage of meds is one, along with proper diet and exercise. These three should bring up your metabolism. Also try not to eat food that are iodine supressants. You can research online foods that people with hypoT should avoid. I know it is difficult...I am going through my boyfriend telling me that I don't even try to lose wieght and I am...I will not happen over night. I am currently 153 and I would like to get my wieght down to 130-135. I hope this helps.

Re: I have always blamed..

I never know what size I will be on any given day LOL! Actually it's not funny come to think of it! I eat the same every day My exercise level stays about the same and yet there are 2 to 3 different sizes in my closet, and I need them all.
Yes I blame my thyroid. Some of it I think is from fluid problems because there are days my face and eyes are very puffy so I figure the rest of me is too !
Sorry you go through this also but at least I feel less alone.

Re: I have always blamed..

well i am glad too someone else does this...my dh has names for all the clothes lol and he knows when i am in what clothes. what has me wondering is my weight will go up or down by 25 pounds or more at a time without me changing anything. the one thing i do find is when i have trouble eating and the stomache prob i am on the larger side and when i am always hungry and food doesn't both me i am slimmer... i am 5 10 so most people don't really notice the change. i do not smoke and the smell of alcohol turns my stomache and i listen to my body when it says no way don't eat that....other wise it gives it right back to me
