Received thyroid uptake scan report/what does it mean?

I got my thyroid uptake scan on Thurs. but so far have not heard back from the Dr. I am printing the results and hopeing someone can explain what it means:

INDICATIONS: abnormal thyroid function

DOSE: 297 UcI i-123

TECHNIQUE: 24 after the oral ingestion of radiioodine, uptake and and
scan was performed.

COMPARISON: None

FINDINGS: At 25 hours the uptake is 50.5 percent. This indicates
hyperthroid function. The thyroid gland is mildly prominent. No definite
photopenic defects are demonstrated.

IMPRESSION: Elevated uptake at 25 hours measured at 50.5 percent.

Looks like Graves, but thats not definitive. Uniform uptake is incdicative of Graves anything more than 30% I think. Not sure on that number though...

You are right April...anything over 30%.

What are your actual thyroid test results?

The definitive test for Graves disease is a blood test called "Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin" which is the antibody responsible for Graves.
