Radioactive uptake scan

What is/are the purposes of this scan? My doctor already told me I have Graves'.....(bloodwork). Do I need the scan to confirm? If not, why else do they want to do it? I've read that the actual scan is no big deal and that's ok...I just don't wanna go do it if there's no need. Thanks!!!

Re: Radioactive uptake scan

May be to see how much RAI you would need to treat your graves disease. They can see if there is nodule functioning. I dont know what else.
