Hello to all of you veterans who hopefully have experienced some relief from the terrible symptoms of hypothyroidism. I believe I am finally experiencing that same relief...slowly, but surely. My question to you all is: When you finally started to feel normal again, did your eyelids recede? I'm really hoping that this isn't a permanent condition for me!

Jenny, I am right there with you. I have been on a rollercoaster with my hypo since having my baby 7 months ago. I had been on Levoxyl .112 mcg before that time with no problem. The most bothersome symptom has been my heavy, sagging eyelids. I hate them! Mine are just starting to get a bit better since I increased my dose of Synthroid to 250mcg this week. Can't wait to get rid of them!!

Yes! My eyes actually swelled shut. It took aprox 6 weeks to completely go away. If it does not go away you need to have your tests re-run and recheck your thyroid hormones.
I thankfully don't have the big eyelid problem, but I'm wondering about home remedies for it. What about using preparation H for swelling? I know some women use it for under the eyes? Also, I have found when my eyes are puffy, putting cold water or ice on or near them helps reduce the swelling.
Oh Vitamin C serum...is really cool stuff. You can just google it over the internet and order some. You may pay 25 bucks for it...but its well worth it. I used that before all this thryoid trouble....and it makes your skin look really nice. It curtails puffiness while making your skin look smooth. I swear by it!

My eyelids got so bad (even on treatment) that I qualified for free plastic surgery on the grounds that it was affecting my vision - which it was! So I had this, and now my eyes are better than ever! The problem is the skin stretches and it doesnt go back! Like pregnancy stretch marks it caused me permanent damage!

I didn't even realize that my heavy, sagging, swollen eyelids were due to my Hashi's/hypo. Thanks for giving me hope that they will recede some when I finally get my numbers where they should be (if I ever get my numbers where they should be, that is).
