What does a "full" thyroid mean?

I was told by an orthopedic surgeon during a physical in December that I had a "full" thyroid. Does anyone know what that means? I do have rheumatoid arthritis and Sjogren's syndrome secondary to RA. Thanks.

Docs usually address a small goiter or slightly swollen thyroid as "full". It just means if feels a little stiffer and a little larger than normal. usually.

Thanks. What about if you're having some discomfort in the area, too? It's not quite pain, but it's definitely discomfort and can't stand to have anything press against the area.

You may want to get your thyroid looked at further. Have an ultrasound done just to see what's going on in there. If you are having a tight feeling in that area then you may have a goiter.
Since you have those other diseases, it is possible that you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is an autoimmune disorder.

That certainly sounds like goiter to me and that's exactly how I would describe it. It feels kinda like something is pressing on your neck from the inside out, like someone has there hands lightly wrapped aroud your neck all day long.

For me...it feels like an annoyance where I just want to take my trusty fillet knife and cut that thing out already.
