I am hypoT and I've had pains in the front of my throat before (supposedly when my thyroid decides to put something out), but this is totally different. The doc has never felt my thyroid enlarged or anything either.
This is lower - closer to my collarbones. It is definately on the inside. And last night I skipped dinner cause it hurt so bad. I just attempted to eat lunch - and after one bite have decided I can't. I mean the food goes past this point and I want to die. So the swallowing - yes I can swallow, but it hurts so bad I don't want to eat.
I've put a call into my GI nurseline to see what to do.
With your goiter - did it hurt like an open wound in there? How did it feel when you swallowed?
THANKS for your quick help.
OK - talked to the GI nurse and she talked to the doc and then called me back.
I have burned a hole in my esophagus with my antibiotic (there are several that are known for this and I just happen to be on one). Apparently it didn't go down all the way and laid in one spot and burned a hole. They have called me in 2 prescriptions and I'm on a liquid diet for the weekend. If not any better by Monday - they are gonna scope me. If it gets worse - where I can't get liquids down over the weekend, I have to go to the ER.
My antibiotic is Clindomycin, but Tetracycline is bad for this too she said.
HEADS UP EVERYONE - you don't want this to happen to you.
THANKS Betty for being there for me when I needed it most!!!
