The uptake scan will also tell how your thyroid is functioning. They usually use it for Graves and nodules. If there is above normal uptake then it is indicative of hyperthyroid/Graves. Graves b/c its a uniform hyperactive uptake. Where if it were a nodule just the nodule would take up more.
If there is something wrong, yes, it's bad news, but treatable. Its just going to be a long battle...that more than likely never ends! It's just managed.
Good news would be nothing is wrong with your thyroid.
