What's an exophytic nodule ?
Tried looking it up and couldn't quite get an explanation. Could anyone explain in laymens terms what it is and should I be worried ?

I'm not a doctor and I tried looking it up too - not sure but sounds like a nodule that grows out beyond the edge of the thyroid (I thought all nodules did that), but I've never heard that term. Sorry I can't be more help....
Maybe someone else knows???

"Exophytic" means "growing outward" from the surface of an organ or other body structure... as opposed to growing into the tissue, presumably. Despite being such a scary looking word, it really doesn't have a lot of significance by itself. Like Kathy says, I thought all nodules grew that way too.
More than 95% of nodules are not cancer... so try not to worry too much until you know something more certain.

A good online resource is Dorland's Medical Dictionary. I refer to it at least once a week.
