Is it possible to be borderline on both, it seems I have more hypo symptoms and some hyper, my nails split, dry hair , fatigue, anxious etc. the DRs say I am hyper, I do not have my test results handy but they are removing my entire thyroid on July 7th any ideas as to what is happening, I am not losing weight and cannot tolerate cold or heat, menapausal also.

Re: hypo or hyper

Why are they removing your gland? I have symptoms of both...but I have gone from hyper to hypo in the past six weeks and have done the same a number of times over the past few years. I guess my body doesn't know where it is. Make sure you are aware of the reason for removing the whole gland. That's not a simple decision to make and can create many more problems with some.

Re: hypo or hyper

When you have Hashimoto's thyroid disease, you will go through hyper and hypo periods until your thyroid is completely killed off my the autoimmune attacks. Also many hypo and hyper symptoms can be the same. Sometimes you can't tell which stage you are in without blood tests.

I second the recommendation to find out all you can about your thyroid, your disease, and why they are removing your gland.

Re: hypo or hyper

The reason that they are removing it is because it is growing inward into my chest, if I wait it can grow in between my lungs and then they cut your chest open.
