Hello I'm new

Hello everyone. I was looking up thyroid and found this place. Found a small swelling on the right side of my thyroid and mentioned it to an ER doctor one night. He checked my thyroid and said the numbers were fine. Went in to see my doctor for follow up visit and ask him about it. He said I did have a swelling but my numbers were fine so not to worry about it. This continued to worry me so I changed doctors. Went in for a visit. Asked him about the swelling and he said the numbers were fine so don't worry about it. I had a sinus infection this past March so I went to see the doctor. Could not see my regular doctor but saw someone else in the practice. For the 4th time I expressed my concern about the swelling which was getting a little larger. He replied.... well you had thyroid test done 2 years ago and they were fine. Told me it might even be some fatty tissue. Gave me nerve pills because he said I seemed anxious. Now....I went back to MY doctor and told him I wanted another thyroid test done and I need to have the swelling checked. Did the test and he said they are within normal limits. He sent me to an ENT which I saw yesterday. ENT said swelling is quite large so I have to go for an ultrasound next Wednesday. I am so tired of all this. I have no energy to start with. This has been going on for nearly 3 years. As with any swelling I am worried about this. I am so angry about all this. I should have told my first doctor I didn't care what the tests said I wanted the swelling checked. Why is it so hard to get a doctor to check anything?

Re: Hello I'm new

I commend you on your willingness to stay strong. I am afraid that will happen with me. I am going today for another test and will mention the enlarged swelling on my neck. This doctor's office I have had problems getting correct test results with this office so I am afraid that they may tell me the same thing that they are telling you about everything being fine and normal when I know something swelling the size of a golfball in my neck isn't fine. The knot has become uncomfortable in how I move my neck or swallowing I can definately tell there is something there. My mother has nodules and a goiter and so does my aunt so it may be hereditary for me. It has been there for probably 6 months or longer and I just never paid any attention to it until about 3 weeks sgo I noticed it seemed to start growing and swelling and mother noticed it so for her sake I am getting it checked about and for the past 3 days it has grow even more and I am even getting worried.

If I don't get the answers I am seeking or if I am not referred to a specialist then I will probably find me another doctor to get different opionions on because I am like you, if the swelling doesn't go down something isn't just fine and needs to be looked at from a specialists point of view. Keep me updated on your issue.
