Re: Evening primrose oil

Tanja,
It's the synthroid that is causing your hairloss as well as your thyroid. I have been taking Evening Primrose Oil for months. I do not notice a difference in hair loss, but I keep taking it in hopes it will stop the loss.

Re: Evening primrose oil

Tanja...

Hi, ....I too take EPO daily, and have been for 2 years, (right after I started Levothroid) Sorry to say, it never helped my hairloss one bit, (but it does seem to make me skin really soft, possibly). So my hair fell out for about 8 months before I was diagnosed, and after starting meds, so for almost 3 years straight. It just recently stopped falling/shedding about 2 months ago, as that's when I finally got my levels optimized....all in a good place now...TSH is 1.2 and my Free T levels are about in the 67% tile of their range. Tell ya the truth, I don't think any vitamin or supplement is going to make it stop falling out, only getting your levels right....and you will, someday.
Good luck...Deda

Re: Evening primrose oil

I was taking EPO for ages when I started going hypo and didn't know it... scars weren't working properly on me. i'd hurt myself, get a little scar then it'd go hard and I'd pick at it *grin* then it'd have to scar again, it'd go hard etc etc... EPO stopped it going all hard and picky and so solved the problem for me... I hadn't heard of it sorting out the hair loss though, certainly didn't do it for me.

Re: Evening primrose oil

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies. I didn't think it would help. My hair is already thin so I just hope it stops soon. I might just take it anyway, maybe it'll get rid of other little problems. How long do you guys wait after taking your thyroid meds,to take that?
Thanks
Tanja

Hi naja....

I wait at least a couple of hours after I take my thyroid med.
