Question TSH, 3rd generation - labs

My new doctor wants me get a test called TSH, 3rd generation. What is that exactly? Last March I had test results indicating that my TSH was 0.453 and my T3 uptake was 27 (different doctor, who said that was "normal").

Will this new test get me the results I need this time/is this a different, more appropriate test?

Thanks

Re: TSH, 3rd generation - labs

TSH 3rd generation is not much, if any, different from the other TSH you had done. "3rd generation" is simply the method used to perform the test.

Do you believe you're hypo- or hyperthyroid? Your TSH is rather low to have hypothyroidism, but it is still possible to have what's known as secondary hypoT.
You need more and better tests. T3 uptake is pretty useless. You must find out what your free thyroid hormone (FT4/FT3) levels are, and antibody testing is a good idea too.

Re: TSH, 3rd generation - labs

Thanks. I've been taking my temperature for 4 days (3 times a day) and my temperatures are ranging from 96.5 to 97.5.
