Vascular Solid Mass

I finally got the results from my ultrasound.....vascular solid mass. So I'm going to the endocrinologist next week to have a FNA.

The way my GP explained is that there is blood supply to the nodule.....does anyone know what this means?

Thanks, JeanneO

Re: Vascular Solid Mass

In other places in your body, it might be alarming that a vascular nodule, with blood supply helping it grow, would be cancerous.

According to my surgeon who is a thyroid specialist (pretty much only thyroids), the thyroid is a highly vascular area, so a vascular nodule doesn't necessarily mean it's cancerous.

The FNA might give you more info. Good luck with it. Mine didn't hurt, but felt kind of weird. It was very quick.

Re: Vascular Solid Mass

Thanks Reece...I'm not really worried (not alot anyway) at this point....I've been dealing with alot of health issues lately, including a mass on the back of my neck that was removed 2 weeks ago and was benign. But also a torn rotator cuff and ongoing pain from a cervical disc fusion last year. And some autoimmune issues as well. So this will be good to find out what this is.

One thing at a time I have to tell myself because if I look at all of it I get a little overwhelmed.

Thanks again JeanneO

Re: Vascular Solid Mass

I had 2 hypervascular nodules on my thyroid and had a TT in August of '05 which was all benign. I think it is pretty common to have "hyper" vascular lesions on your thyroid as I have seen many biopsies here on the board and they usually use the term.

Don't worry too much, like you said one thing at a time.

On a side note...........you said you were dealing with autoimmune issues............make sure they test you for hashi's both labs and during the FNA since it is autoimmune in nature and is responsible for nodules quite often. It could be all linked together.'

Let us know,
Karen

Re: Vascular Solid Mass

Vascualr is not a cause for concern. I have a multinodular goiter, and it was stated I had a large vascular nodule, all turned out ok. When I read vascular I freaked out thinking it something awful.
