Thyroid affecting inner ear

so im still dealing with vestibular Nueronitis, and recently thought about the thyroid (hashimotos) which i have, is affecting the compensation for my ears. now tell me if im wrong, but isn't the thyroid in control of all bodily fluid through out the body, even eyes and ears? because i have eye problems due to hashis, and was thinking, wouldnt this also be affecting my inner ear fluid? keeping everything out of wack?

Re: Thyroid affecting inner ear

Here's an abstract of an article on metabolic disorders that affect the vestibular system:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=A bstract&list_uids=7816447&query_hl=3&ito ol=pubmed_DocSum

It says: ". Hypothyroidism may affect different parts of the vestibular system depending on the severity and duration of thyroid deficiency. Severe congenital hypothyroidism can cause central vestibular disorders affecting the cerebellum, whereas mild hypothyroidism may result in peripheral vestibulopathy."

Interesting - in the years before I had Graves, I had a 3-day episode of severe vertigo - now I wonder if it was an early sign of my thyroid disease?

Re: Thyroid affecting inner ear

That's interesting! Whenever I'm talking on the phone, my ear opposite the receiver starts to flutter everytime the person I am speaking with says something! I knew it was connected to my thyroid problems! I also have problems with dizziness. It comes and goes! What a menace!!!
