Tapazole and Thyroid scan
Hi All,
I have been on Tapazole for hyperT. My FNA showed suspicious for papillary carcainoma. My dr. would like to do a thyroid scan before I have surgury. How long do I have to be off of the Tapazole before I can have a RAI uptake/scan?

I have heard 10 days. And I have heard different time frames. What does your dr recommend?

Hello-

On my directions from the hospital I go to they instructed me no thyroid meds for a month prior to the scan.

Thanks for your thoughts. My dr. said 5 days should be fine. I would hate to take the test and have it not accurate because of my medications.
