No doubt the testing done included - or was limited to - TSH. The "normal" range for it may be quite broad, but in general, any level above 2.5 is suspect for low thyroid function. The average healthy person without thyroid disease has TSH of about .8 to 1.5; but a TSH of that level is still no guarantee of thyroid health if thyroid symptoms are present. Further testing needs to be done in those cases.
The best tests to do for thyroid consist of a panel of TSH, free T4, free T3, and the thyroid antibodies - TPO and Tg. It's a rare MD who does this panel in its entirety, but it really does give the most definitive picture.
Please let us know what your tests reveal, especially if you're told all is "normal". It certainly sounds as if your thyroid may be a problem for you.
