How long B4 T3 kicks in?

Hey,

I switched from Synthroid to Amour about 6-7 weeks ago. I increased from 150 to 180 on Friday. How long does it take, appraoximately, fto feel a difference? I thought that T3 takes effect "immediately". Is that correct?

By the way, my new doc, who is NOT an endo, is basing increases on the way I feel. Kind of blows my mind considering the crap I had to go through with the other docs, who ARE endos!!

I have also been suffering, like most of the rest of the country, with allergies and am currently being treated (again) for a sinus infection. Could this also effect the way I feel with the new increase?

Thanks a mill!! (or should that be grain?)

Peggy

Re: How long B4 T3 kicks in?

T3 has a short half-life so you would have your T3 levels up to what they are going to be on this dose pretty much on the first day - unlike the T4 component of the Armour, which will take 2-3 weeks to reach its max.

In terms of feeling better - once your levels reach their max, most people do feel better, although sometimes it takes a while longer to feel the full improvement - I think because there is some repair work that needs to go on in your body to repair the damage from being hypothyroid.

You doctor is not an endo...Thank Goodness, now maybe you can be treated properly. The most proper treatment for thyroid is until u are symptom free....not just merely "number perfect"....Their normal may not be not be your optimal.
