You can always ask your primary for a referal. I know in Ny they have thier own referals for each perticuliar insurance.
Another thing, I do is call. i go through my plan and I ask if the dr can return my call. (Its your right). I have no shame either. I tell them my situation, then ask how long he/she has been practicing and I'd get right to the point.....I'm looking for a Dr who, blahh, blahh blahh.......You'll get a very good idea of personality and weather you'll be able to work w/ the doc.
Trust me, I do it all the time. A GOOD Dr will have no problem being prescreened! Its like a pediatrician. I wouldnt dare take my children w/out prequalifying him, Dont you deserve the same.
Go through your ins. book......GL
