| Re: Melatonin...yes or no with hashi's??
Melatonin has been shown to flare autoimmune symptoms (what type? not sure) in some people. I've used it in past but found that I was sensitive to very small amounts, & that my AI arthritis issues did flare after a while.
Last yr. my teenaged son had a sleep study done (he'd been previously told to take up to 6 mg. of melatonin -- 'can't hurt'). The specialist said recent research suggested that very tiny amounts of melatonin, like 0.5 mg, had been found in research to be most effective, taken several hours before bedtime.
Keeping lights very dim in the evening/total blackout in bedroom is important for natural melatonin production. If you get up at night, do it in the dark. Light enters through the eyes & destroys melatonin.
Best wishes.
