Do D.O.s order thyroid scans?

It may be a stupid question. I know they're medical doctors and can do all that stuff. Just wondering if anyone went to a d.o. and had all that testing done. Thanks.

I did... and yes they are able to do anything a medical doctor can. (as far as ordering testing and giving out medication). In fact most D.O.s know much more about how the body functions than a medical doctor.

Sue..............have you seen the DO in Kirbyville yet. He didn't do an ultrasound on me because I had had one done not too long before I saw him so I just took him the copy of test. But I feel sure that he could do it. The only thing is, he doesn't take insurance. But he doesn't charge near as much for his blood tests as Dr. Arem.

No, I haven't gone yet. Gonna try to go next week. Do you think any procedures he would give an order for and then get them done somewhere in network?

Re: Do D.O.s order thyroid scans?

Sue I would just call first and ask. If I go to a dr. that doesn't take insurance, I request that they use a lab that IS in my network and file on it myself. If I am not mistaken, Dr. S. uses Quest Labs and maybe others too. If you could just get your regular doctor to order the USound, you could just take Dr. S. the results. It would be better if you could get that done before you go to save time and maybe an extra office visit.
