Re: sex drive

Hi Donna,
Yes, when you get regulated it should return - but it is a slow process. Mine went bye bye for a while. Now that I am beginning to be less hypo, it is kindof there. Just not all -yet - where it used to be. I am so glad your husband is patient - mine is too. He just wants me to feel better and shows so much caring and concern - I feel guilty sometimes. I think part of it, of course, is your hormones and the other is just plain -I would sit down and fall asleep.

Take care.

Re: sex drive

i believe this is covered under the 'for better or worse' clause.

my drive is sporadic. its better than it was when i was undiagnosed and untreated. i'm still hypo with symptoms, working up to maintenance dose whatever that may be.

Re: sex drive

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary on Sunday... I'm guessing that a lot of couples 're live' their wedding night on their anniversary... not us. My poor husband has gotten cheated out of that 1st year of sex thing...It's hard to feel sexy when you are tired and feel unattractive because you've gained weight, your muscle tone is gone, your hair, skin and nails are a wreck... not too mention the discomfort of all the digestion problems. I'm just hoping it all gets better soon.

Wow, only 5 days! Hope you at least thought about it once a day during those horrible 5 days.

Back in early March when I was feeling GREAT, I couldn't get enough of it and my husband was in heaven. I was thinking about it a lot! Almost like a man! Then tested a little hyper, doctors freaked out and reduced Armour, and now I could careless about it. Hopefully I can get back there again to feeling good all over. It was a great few weeks, though.

Re: sex drive

OK kids, settle down!! Archie, aren't you something like 25? THAT tells the tale. I haven't had it as bad as the rest of you - only had some hypo symptoms since about 2 wks after TT. And then, I was on meds already - just not enough. I think mine is greater than my husbands, normally.

I really feel for those of you who have suffered for so long and so bad. (Yes, even including you, Archie.)

Hang in there!

Re: sex drive

Sorry, Archie, for some reason I THOUGHT you were younger. Maybe you just think young and it shows through.

Yeah, I seem to think anyone younger than I am is a kid. So Archie, you do qualify! I have been a parent since 1963 and tend to think older than 60 somtimes.

Looking it up, the FDA doesn't give us much hope:

Guess we'll have to rely on the thyroid meds getting regulated and we get our normal libidos back.

SarahF - here's hoping that increase is exactly what your body needs! Keep us informed.

Re: sex drive

I believe my sex drive was lost also, before I was diagnosed. My other problem was my hormones were a bit out of wack. I seen a hormone specialist, who was the one who found my thyroid disorder and is now regulating my thryoid and my hormones and now things seem more normal.

Heck honestly I think I'm back to myself or more so. I think at this point I have more drive than my hubby. But that could be that I heard for women our peak is around 30 something and men is around 19 or close. So that could be my problem, since hubby is 40 and I'm 34.....

Re: sex drive

I've been on levothyroxine 5 months and my sex drive still hasn't returned. So unfortunately, I figure it's just aging--menopause. I'm 53.
