Question Iron Pills and Thyroid meds

I read somewhere that Iron supplements (I have to take I am anemic) should always be taken at different times than thyroid medication because Iron interferes in the absorption of the thyroid replacement.

Have any of you guys heard about this?

Thanks for your answers

Re: Iron Pills and Thyroid meds

This is absolutely true... To sum up:

Thyroid meds should be taken at least one hour before or two hours after eating, but keep the following in mind, too:

Thyroid meds should be taken at least 4 hours away (I think 8 is safer) from any Iron supplementm calcium supplement or calcium rich food, antacid containing aluminum or calcium, ulcer meds such as carafate, birth control or other hormones containing estrogen.

That is a good start to taking your thyroid meds to get the best benefit from them.
