Question One eye now smaller than the other?

I noticed in photos from the last several months that my right eye looks about half the size of my left eye.
I have Hashi's. I started on Synthroid in Sept and went hyper then was taken off it for a month (Jan) then went hypo (bad), then was put back on it and my TSH went down the next few months. I'm at 1.57 now but still have hypo symptoms - that's another story
Anyway, just wondering if anyone had anything weird like this happen to their eye(s). It never bulged, just looks "shrunk up". This is the eye that always bothers me when I have sinus problems and get tired - it throbs really bad. Whenever I have sinus problems it's the right side that really acts up. I also get pain behind that eye. Don't know if something weird is going on there or if it has something to do with my thyroid problems.

Re: One eye now smaller than the other?

I'm hypo/hashi's and had Graves in one eye and a ptosis in the other. They were also puffy, painful and I had fluid bags under my eyes. I know, I sound really attractive don't I ?
Anyway I showed my eyes to 7, yes 7 Drs before I finally got a diagnosis with the 7th Dr. No one else had an answer and I walked around wearing dark glasses for years because my eyes looked so awful.
All the Drs knew I had thyroid dis but none of them put it together.
Finally saw someone in L.A. and he referred me to a Oculoplastic surgeon at UCLA. My eyes are much improved though they do still fluctuate and I may need a second surgery (which is not uncommon) down the road.
So if you feel your not getting the answers you need, keep trying.
Too many Drs don't understand thyroid eye issues.

Re: One eye now smaller than the other?

I'm a hypo-Hashi person, and I've had that happen to me in the past before...when my levels were pretty hypo. One night in particular, I looked in the mirror, and one eye was very noticeably larger than the other...it scared me, to tell ya the truth. Of course, my hubby said, "no, it looks the same to me"...I knew better. (He always denies things with me, to try to keep me calm)

Anyway, the following morning, it was much better. (That was probably over a year ago) I just saw some recent pictures taken of me tho, and I noticed I still have a larger eye ...not huge larger, but it is bigger than the other. How weird, huh? I wonder if it will stay that way? I don't mention it to my Dr. tho....they already think we imagine these things...most of the time.

I can live with one eye a bit bigger, so long as I'm not hurting in pain all over...which seems to be the case lately...(not feeling too bad) I do have a girlfriend who happens to have both Hashi's-hypo and Grave's, and she gets the same thing. Her's comes and goes. She too pretty much ignores it...but if I had any pain along with it, I would definitely see my Dr. about it.

Best of luck,
Deda

Thanks everyone for your responses, and hope you are feeling better soon
The right eye is noticeably smaller, even my husband agrees. I really look creepy lol. I am definitely going to mention it to the doctor!
