Question Underactive to overactive?

Hi, I was diagnosed at hypothyroid about a year ago, with a tsh of 20. I have been taking 75mcgs. So I went back to doctors and get my blood taken again, and get the phone call that now my thyroid is overactive, and my meds have to be changed. I think she said something as low as .5 mcgs, but I didn't think they went that low. Does this sound right? Thanks in advance.

Re: Underactive to overactive?

hi thats weird, they gave you the meds and its took you to much the other way and made you over , how long did you leave it before you had blood tests after you were given the meds?? cos it takes 6 to 8 weeks to settle down ?? and i think we can all go abit over after a raise but it drops back down again and then the up is gone alas!!!!!! if you did wait after the raise in your meds for 6 8 weeks then you probably do need to be knocked down a little bitxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxgood luck love from katxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx x

Re: Underactive to overactive?

Dosages are measured in either micrograms or milligrams.
A microgram is 1000th of a milligram. Therefore, 75 mcgs = .075 mgs.
Your dose has probably been reduced to 50 mcgs = .050 mgs.
