I recently gained 20 pounds in a month's time, am constantly tired, have low body temperature, had difficulty concentrating, recently became overly sensitive to cold and heat, muscle aches, etc. I have been to an endocrinologist who says my blood work is fine.
I was treated with radiation therapy (tonsils) in the early 1960s. A recent ultrasound showed a possible small thyroid nodule or possibly parathyroid nodule, and multiple cystic lesions in the right lobe of the thyroid gland. A biopsy was not recommended at this time. I also have an elevated ANA level that has not led to anything conclusive.
I am so tired of feeling this way. I'm having difficulty at my job. There has to be some sort of answer. Any suggestions? Thanks
Oh wow. I've not heard of that. I just call my Dr & asked them to fax mine to me & I get it in about 10 minutes. What if you ask them to read the results to you over the phone. You want all of the tests run for your thyroid & the ranges used for each test.
The doctor's office is holding my test results for a $25 ransom! Can they do such a thing?
I don't think so... at least, not ethically. You are entitled by law to your results. They are allowed to charge a "nominal" fee for copying, usually limited to the cost of the copying materials themselves. I wouldn't tolerate such treatment. I'd be doctor-shopping if they don't come down off their high horse this time.
How did you ever make out? Did you ever have your calcium and parathyroid hormone checked? Let us know how you are doing.
I also have elevated ANA and symptoms that sound like yours.
Do you have any sort of heart arrythmia?
I ended up having ademocarcinoma of the parotid gland. I finally found a caring endocronologist who believed me and ordered a biopsy. It was an agressive, unusual form of cancer for the parotid. I was referred to some great doctors, had surgery, chemo and radiation treatments. Treatments ended a year ago and my first PET scan was good. All symptoms are gone and I have a new doctor.
I am so glad that you are feeling better. Where is the parotid and how did they find your cancer? My ANA has been elevated for over a year and I am concerned about it.
I am so glad that you are doing better though.
