I've heard alot of people saying that cytomel stays active in the blood for only like 7-8 hours?? not sure what they mean by this but ive been taking my synthroid at night before bed for about 3 years now and i just started taking cytomel with it....so does this mean im basically sleeping off the first best/important 8 hours??
I take Armour sublingually (dissolve it under the tongue). When I took Synthroid I took it sublingually too. Then you do not have to worry about any food or medication interactions. I started taking Cytomel recently and take it the same way. I take the Armour between 6:30 and 7:30 am when I wake up and I take the Cytomel around 11:00 am.
You may want to take at least the Cytomel in the morning. What dose are you taking? Does your doctor say to take it with the Synthroid?
Hi John. That is how I started it too (1/2 pill for a couple of weeks then whole pill).
I am on Armour which is a combination of T3 and T4 whereas Synthroid is T4 only. I guess it may be better for me to spread it out so there is not too much T3 at once. Maybe being on Synthroid it is better to take the Cytomel and Synthroid together?
You may want to ask the doctor or pharmacist if it would be better to take your pills in the morning or at night and better to split them or take them together. I would be interested in hearing what you find out or what others here think.
