| What is a normal size of the thyroid?
I had an ultrasound because when they did a CT scan of my neck, the person noted a cyst in the right lobe of the Thyroid gland and recommended an ultrasound to confirm it. The ultrasound said it was limited due to patient's body habitus. Yes, I do have a thick neck, but it is not huge by any means. The only thing they have noted on there is the measurements:
right thyroid lobe measures 5.1 cm in craniocaudal dimension x 1.3 cm in AP dimension and 2.2 cm in transverse dimension. left thyroid lobe measures 5.4 cm in craniocaudal dimension x 1.8 cm in AP dimension and 2.0 cm in transverse dimension. And that they do not see a dominant mass -- study due to patient body habitus. I'm not exactly sure if this is normal size or not. My neck hurts me all the time from just a little right of my adam's apple up towards my ear. The ear also hurts all the time. Could this be a thyroid problem?? Does this mean the cyst is gone??
