I've got a ??? Please explain

I have read on this board that a suppressed TSH will give you NO symptoms .....that there are absolutly no symptoms connected to suppressed TSH. Then I have read that "most people feel their best when the TSH is around "1" or sometimes a little lower." Please explain this......If you feel differently when TSH is at different levels.

The reason I am asking, my symptoms are really bad right now and my Tsh is .01 but my t3 and t4 are not even up to middle of range. I felt a little better a while back when my TSH was .7 and hormone levels were even lower, just barely in range. Is it just my hashi's kicking in and out that's giving me the bad symptoms?? This is so hard to figure out. Especially since doctor is probably going to cut back on meds when I go back because of my TSH. If he does that and lowers my hormone levels again and then hashi's acts up when my levels are so low I will be an invalid.

Re: I've got a ??? Please explain

The general statement about "people feeling best at around 1.0" means healthy people without thyroid problems of any kind. I learned from Meep that TSH is meaningless in treatment, and also from my own experience. He and I both have suppressed TSH when our FTs don't approach anywhere near hyper levels.
I can't explain why you felt better when your free levels were at the bottom of the range, but I feel sure it isn't because your TSH was a bit higher.

I know what I'd do if the Author would cut my dose even lower...

Hiya Shmily

My last TSH was 0.4 and I know fine well that in sept when my trial on Armour is due to be reviewed that I will be taken off it. Good old UK healthcare sysytem!!! Now that my TSH is supressed I have no symptoms at all, but it seems that most docs dont realise that this is a pit hormone and not a thyroid hormone.

I am feeling better than I have done in years though. My last free T4 was 14, although i dont know where that is in the reference range as the receptionist was quite snotty with me for asking.
Are you taking synthetic T4 or Armour or both?
sending you my best wishes

Midwest.........you made me laugh!!!!!!! I have also decided what "I" am going to do if "The Author" cuts my meds again.

Daisy.........Thanks for letting me know about your experience with suppressed TSH. I hope he doesn't cut your meds since you are finally feeling so good. I am on 3/4 gr. Armour and 12 1/2 mcg Levoxyl. I would rather be on straight Armour.
