unexplained weight gain a worry

Hi all,
I need your advice! I recently have gained 5 pounds, and am concerned. The reason is because my eating habits have not changed at all! Actually I have been trying to watch what I eat, but it won't come off. I eat rice cakes for lunch!
Could this be a sign of a thyroid problem? I see a hemo now for high platelets. I'm wondering if this is all connected? I get monthly B-12 shots but am still always tired. Is fatigue also a symptom?
I don't see my Hemo until Oct., so I was wondering if anyone thinks that I should mention this weight gain to my gyno when I see him in August? Or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks!
