Question - Got my Armour prescription

hey guys!

Me again! I got my prescription through the post and am sending it off this weekend so should get my Armour soon!

My doctor put a note in with it giving me dosage options. I am currently on 75mcg of thyroxine. I can either:
Take 50mcg T4 and 1/2 grain Armour in the morning and 1/2 Armour in the evening
or
Take 1 grain Armour in the morning and 1/2 in the evening

Any recommendations on which is less likely to make me react badly? My thinking is that it could be quite a whack of T3 to start out with so going with the thyroxine + armour option to start could be better? any thoughts?

Becky

Re: Question - Got my Armour prescription

Absolutely do the 50 t4 and a 1/2 armour in the morning and then 1/2 in the evening.

Armour is powerful stuff because of the t3--and it seems to absorb better-- and you want to ease into it. If you make a huge change such as to the other option, you'll really be shocking your body.

Re: Question - Got my Armour prescription

I agree that the T4 added to Armour is a great idea. It seems that for some people increasing the Armour causes a higher T3 then T4. Some cannot tolerate all that T3 from Armour. I cannot tolerate that much T3 and have added T4.

Re: Question - Got my Armour prescription

Thanks for the input guys! Very much appreciated!

Another thing that occurred to me, if I'm on 75mcg of T4 at the moment and one grain of Armour is at least equivalent to 74mcg, or 100mcgs according to some sources, won't I be taking 125mcg to 150mcg a day? seems like quite an increase

Re: Question - Got my Armour prescription

Then, you are definitely taking more almost double.

It's almost a full replacement dose--meaning your thyroid is producing almost nothing.
