Just a few thyroid questions

I have been so exhausted lately. I can sleep 12 + hours a night and wake up the next morning and feel great but after about 3 hours I feel completly drained. It has left me so depressed, I work and come home eat and go to bed for the night. I have no time to spend with my daughter. Let alone take her outside to play. I just don't have the energy. I have developed these horrid dark eye circles and dry brittle hair. Please help I'm on depression medicine and yet I feel so bad that I can't spend time with my family. I take 20 mg of lexapro and have been on it for about 2 years.

Re: Just a few thyroid questions

I am sorry if this is short but I am just about to go to work but didnt want to leave you thinking that no one cared.

have you been diagnosed hun?
if not then your drs has got to be the first place to start, you need a full thyroid panel done.
TSH
Free T4
Free T3
and anti bodies if they test for those.... they dont here in the UK
then post your results here inc the ranges and we will try to help you.

before I go I am sending you a big hug, I know exactly what you are going through right now.xxxxxxxxx most of us here do as we have all been that low.
take care of yourself

Please get those test done & post them here. These fine folks can help if you do. I am very new to this illness, however, I have learned in this short time that the way you are feeling is not normal if your medication is at the correct dose.

Star...
I responded to your first post also...please see it. Your symptoms may certainly be due to your being hypothyroid. As suggested by Daisy and Gardening...get those tests done and post them here. Your lab work is VERY important because it will indicate if your body is getting enough of the medicine that it needs. Get familiar with your thyroid and what it does. A VERY good book to start with is Thyroid For Dummies. It's very informative and explains things simply and clearly. I can't emphazise enough how important your lab work is. Ask your doctor to order labs for Free T3 and Free T4 along with your usual TSH.
Good luck!
