Antibodies and Symptoms

When my antibodies were checked 2 yrs. ago, my TPO were in normal range and Anti Thyg were just 35 but I had hashi's. The doctor could tell just by feeling of the texture of my thyroid gland and also FNB confirmed it. I haven't had antibodies checked any more. Have been told that they usually don't check them again and you don't even have to have any antibodies to have hashi's.

My question is................are symptoms related directly to how high your antibody count is? In other words, could I have just as many symptoms as the person whose count was 2500? If blood levels of hormone were normal could I still have bad symptoms with low antibody count?

Re: Antibodies and Symptoms

I believe there is - it only makes sense. But I know that docs don't necessarily agree.

I feel 10 times sicker now than I was two years ago, when I had only TPO's - now I have anti-thyroglobulin as well as TPO. A coincidence? I don't think so.

I've asked the same question on this board, or a similar question. Would love to know if there is a correlation.

Re: Antibodies and Symptoms

Whoops! I mean I believe there is a correlation between how sick a person is and how high the antibody titres. I am sure that somejone with no Abs may feel sicker than someone with Abs, but as a general rule, I believe the Antibodies worsen symptoms.
