Re: Thyroid uptake scan/Great new dr!
My uptake scan was a piece of cake.
I went to the radiology place on a Monday morning and the radiologist told me what was going to be done and gave me a little pill to take. I was not allowed to touch it with my hands and had to get it down fast. He told me to drink a lot of water during the day to help it get through my body. Then I left and went to work.
The following Tuesday morning I went back. The radiologist took me in, put me on a little table and had this HUGE machine about 1" over my neck (It looked like a huge metal beehive). She took pictures with my neck straight, then had me turn my head to the left, and to the right. Then I was done. I think it took a total of about 35 minutes.
The only thing that bothered me is that I am claustrophobic. I was fine with my head turned, because I could see to the sides of the room, but when I was laying straight, I was looking straight up at that machine...it was all I could see and I was freaked out a bit.
Good luck to you!
