| Betadine Allergy / thyroid connection?
Hello-
A bit of background before my question:
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in Feb. 2005. One nodule was found on the right side at the same time- had a FNB and it came back benign.
I've been on Levoxyl .025 since then. I do not have my labs- will be getting them tomorrow.
7/6/06 I had an ultrasound- a total of 3 nodules were found- the original on the right side- which is the dominant nodule, one behind it and one on the left side. The left nodule has some calcification that was seen on the ultrasound. A FNR was done on the left nodule. I am going to the DR. tomorrow for an explanation of the biopsy- Dr. told me that it is not maliginant- but sent a written report that says "shows rare follicular epithelial (sp?) cells. Follicular epithelial cells are surrounded by thin watery colloid. Also thick viscous coloid is present in the other smear. No lymphoid cells are indentified. No cytologis evidence of papillary carcinoma of micro follicular arrangements fora a follicular neoplasm is identified in this specimen of limited cellularity."
From what I have read here, on the internet and in books- it sounds like the "rare follicular epithelial cells" may be a problem.
My question is- I am also allergic to betadine (found out the hard way when I had my 2nd child!)- could this allergy (which endo says means I am also allergic to iodine) be playing a part in my throid problems? I have not been able to find anything concerning this.
Thanks for any help you can offer!
