Hair problem - Hyperthyroidism

Hi, I'm a 16 year old female. I had Hyperthryrodism when I was 13 and got my thyroid removed. Ever since then my hair has been thin and refuses to grow past my shoulders. It has also become quite thin. When I was a child I had thick curly hair that I could grow to by midsection. Now I have frizzy, wavy hair that won't grow, and is thin. I know that Hyperthyrodism leads to hair problems, but I no longer have the illness, should the hair problem go away as well? Can someone please help me.

Re: Hair problem - Hyperthyroidism

From what I've learned, most of the hair problems come from being hypothyroid. If your thyroid was removed, that's probably your problem now. Maybe you need more thyroid hormone. It's possible that as you've gotten more into your mid teens, your female hormones are flaring up and causing you to need more thyroid hormone. I'd talk to your doctor about it.

Also some people believe in Evening Primrose Oil for helping out with your hair.
