graves, tapazole & periods

I have Graves, and I've been on tapazole for a few months now. Has anyone had any strange changes with their periods? I bled for 5 days 2 weeks ago, and now I'm bleeding again, but the flow is SOOOOO heavy. It seems like it's not going to stop.

I'd love to hear about anyone else's experiences with abnormal bleeding.

Hello, When did you have thyroid bloodtests done? Usually women with hypothyroidism have heavier and longer periods. You need to get the frees tested. This is the Ft4 and Ft3 to see what your thyroid hormones look like, because you might be overdosed causing you to be hypo. The TSH will be useless to look at while on medication, but it is usually included in the testing.

Re: graves, tapazole & periods

I to have Graves, but am hypothyroid now....I did have strange periods when hyper. It was like I would spot for about two days...then nothing....then the fourth day spot, and then at the end bleed like a stuck pig for day five, and then it would be over. Or I would bleed like a stuck pig for day three and it would be over. It was strange. I had always had normal flow, and 5 days of it, then it all changed. What Lady is saying does make since too though, it is possiable that you are hypo which means you might be over medicated. So have the doc check those levels.

Re: graves, tapazole & periods

I don't know why you have a hyperthyroid, and alot of people with Graves(autoimmune disease that causes hyperthyroid) do suffer from bouts like this if stress is induced. Alot of research has been done into Graves and some say that stress can induce Graves, so stress is somewhat related they think. So I can understand why you feel this way. I did the same.
